Presenting the gold medal of the 28th GCMGC to His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama.

We are delighted to share a momentous occasion that occurred recently. His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama graciously granted a special audience to the Executive members of TNSA (Tibetan National Sports Association) at his residence.

During this auspicious meeting, TNSA had the honor of presenting the gold medal of the 28th GCMGC (Gyalyum Chenmo Memorial Gold Cup) to His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama.

The GCMGC Football Tournament holds a special place in our hearts as it was founded in honor of the great mother of His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama, who passed away in January 1981. The initiative to organize this tournament was taken by Mr. Joe Tsering, the former Chief Accountant of TCV (Tibetan Children’s Village). He is credited as the founder of the GCMGC Football Tournament.

In August 1981, an organizing committee was formed, primarily consisting of TCV staff members, to ensure the successful execution of the tournament.

We express our gratitude to His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama for his continuous support and inspiration. This special audience not only highlights the achievements of our team but also reinforces the deep connection between sports and our community.

As we move forward, we carry the spirit of compassion, unity, and excellence instilled in us by the GCMGC Football Tournament. We remain committed to upholding these values and promoting the growth of sports within the Tibetan community.
